Job Description
We seek a Red Seal Millwright with a 4th Class Power Engineering certificate.
The successful candidate should be prepared to work in an automated manufacturing facility with a maintenance team of electricians and millwrights.
You will troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair production equipment. Food, beverage, bottling, and pharmaceutical industry background is an asset, but we will consider any relevant. manufacturing/production backgrounds.
The schedule is PM shift 4 x 10 hours/Monday-Thursdays and AM shift 5×8 hours Monday-Friday, rotates bi-weekly.
Union position with additional premiums paid for PM shift hours in addition to holding 4th class PE ticket. Compensation ranges from $41-44 per hour depending on credentials. There are also good benefits and the opportunity for overtime if desired.
Duties of a Red Seal Millwright
1. Installation of Machinery and Equipment
- Install, align, and dismantle machinery in factories, power plants, and construction sites.
- Use specialized tools to ensure equipment is positioned correctly.
- Work with blueprints, sketches, and manuals to install equipment.
2. Maintenance and Repair
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain equipment to ensure smooth operation.
- Perform routine maintenance on machinery to prevent breakdowns.
- Replace worn-out parts, such as bearings, seals, and gears.
- Lubricate machinery and adjust components as necessary.
3. Reading and Interpreting Technical Drawings
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to understand the specifications of machinery.
- Plan the sequence of tasks to install or repair equipment based on technical drawings.
4. Precision Alignment and Fitting
- Align and calibrate equipment using specialized tools such as lasers, dial indicators, and micrometres.
- Perform precision fitting of parts during the installation process to ensure proper operation.
5. Troubleshooting
- Diagnose mechanical problems using testing equipment and expertise.
- Resolve issues such as vibration, overheating, or other mechanical failures in machines.
6. Machining and Fabrication
- Operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, or grinders to fabricate or repair parts.
- Weld or cut parts using different processes when necessary.
7. Working with Various Types of Equipment
- Work with pumps, compressors, turbines, conveyors, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems.
- Maintain and repair electrical motors, valves, and control systems as needed.
8. Safety and Compliance
- Adhere to safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace.
- Ensure equipment is compliant with local and national regulations.
- Participate in safety training and maintain up-to-date knowledge of workplace hazards.
9. Collaboration and Supervision
- Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and other tradespeople to complete tasks efficiently.
- Supervise apprentices or junior millwrights, providing guidance and training.
10. Documentation and Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs.
- Document modifications to machinery and the outcomes of troubleshooting efforts.

- Red Seal Millwright
- 4th Class Power Engineer
- Must be available for afternoon/night shifts and morning shifts which rotate every 2 weeks.
- Food, beverage, bottling, packaging, pharmaceutical industry background an asset
- Background repairing, diagnosing, and maintaining production/manufacturing equipment
- Legally entitled to work for any employer in Canada
